Otherwise known as why Dot is a hyperactive weirdo
So, it stared in health class.
I know, what a great way to begin this.
But seriously.
So, back to health class.
I was 30 minutes into Health, and already done with the massive, end-of-the-quarter test tha was SUPPOSED to take the the whole period. But, NOOOOOOOOO I decided to go quickly and be done with 30 minutes to spare.
After doing the immpossible for 10 minutes (sitting still), I look over to my P.E. coach, she smiles and holds up my graded paper. A perfect 100. I can now quit worrying, and start partying! No, I remind myself, not in the middle of health class.
I pull out a piece of white paper, and a sharpened pencil. I start thinking,
What should I draw, What should I draw? Suddenly, a thought pops into my head.
My Life as an Incognito Elephant
I barely miss a fit of laughter and instead scribble the sentence onto a piece of paper. I discretly pass it to my friend, Laney, who opens it and then gives me a "What is this child doing?" look, and smiles. Then, almost as before, I imagine the cover of a book. A white elephant, reaching through the darkness and into the light, it's trunk wrapping around a cord, presumebly trying to turn out the light(I haven't got my header art up get, but that's basically it) It's almost to perfect. I scribble it down.
It's Girl Scout Night, and the Cadettes have gathered in a small room, brainstorming ideas fo the silver award.
"I liked doing the thing with the animals that we did with the bronze." On of them says. A few others nod.
" I want to do something with my writing, like a girl empowerment book." I interject. "With maybe a cover looking like this." I pull out my drawing and show it to the others.
" That's clever, Dot" My troop leader says
"It is?" I reply
"Yes, because, have you ever heard the saying "the elephant in the room"? It means the problem or fight that no one wants too talk about. So the title is basically the undercover problem."
I nod, pretending that I had realized this before. I now knew I had just created the most beautiful monster ever. One that would eat up my time, and my sanity.
So that is how the incognito elephant came to be.
